Meditate This Yoga Day: 5-Minute Rituals to Quiet the Noise

You don’t need an hour. Or a Himalayan retreat. Or total silence.

Sometimes, all it takes is five mindful minutes to shift your day.

This International Yoga Day, we’re stripping it back - no poses, no pressure, just presence.

Meditation isn’t about perfection or emptying your mind. It’s about meeting yourself where you are.

Whether you’re anxious, distracted, restless, or curious, here are 5 ways to try meditation today (and actually enjoy it).

1. One-Minute Breath Reset

Perfect for beginners. Or busy brains.

  • Sit comfortably.

  • Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4, out for 4.

  • Repeat for 60 seconds.

Optional: Close your eyes and place your hand on your heart. Feel it slow.

2. Candle-Focus Meditation (Trāṭaka Lite)

If closing your eyes makes you restless, try open-eye meditation.

  • Light a candle - something gently fragrant, like Melted’s Serene Moments Candle

  • Gaze at the flame without blinking. Let your thoughts pass like clouds.

  • When your eyes water, gently close them and visualise the flame within.

Duration: 2–5 minutes

3. The Body Scan

Perfect before bed or after a long day.

  • Lie down or sit back.

  • Bring your attention to your toes. Then your feet. Ankles.

  • Slowly scan up through your legs, hips, spine, shoulders… to your forehead.

  • Breathe into each area. Release tension.

You can even whisper: “I relax my [body part]” as you go.

4. Sound-Soak Stillness

Some days, silence feels overwhelming. That’s okay.

Try meditating to:

  • Ambient nature sounds

  • Singing bowls or gentle bells

  • Guided meditation apps (Insight Timer, Headspace, etc.)

Pair it with a grounding scent in the room. Lavender, sandalwood, or Melted’s Jasmine & Negroli Diffuser can help anchor your focus.

5. Loving-Kindness Practice (Metta Meditation)

For those who want to soften anger, grief, or judgement; this one’s healing.

Close your eyes and repeat:

  • May I be happy.

  • May I be healthy.

  • May I be safe.

  • May I live with ease.

Now extend it to others:

  • Someone you love

  • Someone neutral

  • Someone who’s difficult

Breathe love outward.

Tiny Ritual, Big Impact

You don’t have to meditate “perfectly” for it to work. The point isn’t to escape your thoughts, it’s to befriend them.Even two minutes of stillness is a rebellion in today’s chaos.

So this Yoga Day, give yourself permission to just be. No pressure. No expectations. Just presence.

Light a candle. Close your eyes. And meet yourself… right here.

Happy International Yoga Day. May you find peace inside, wherever you are outside.

Love & Calm,

Melted!
